Role & Target
An overview of GCABC’s role and target in the ASEAN region.

The German Chambers ASEAN Business Council (GCABC) was established to provide a comprehensive ASEAN dialogue platform for all relevant interest groups. Its mission is to strengthen regional cooperation within ASEAN and support trade and investment. GCABC serves as a platform for enterprises—especially SMEs—as well as policymakers from ASEAN, Germany, and the EU to connect, network, and exchange knowledge in a trade- and investment-friendly environment. The network emphasizes strategic discussions on ASEAN integration and the identification of future-relevant topics.
As a permanent mechanism, GCABC plans to host bi-annual conferences in rotating AMSs and an annual event in alternating German cities. These events will be organized by the German bilateral chambers in ASEAN, the founding GCABC members, and the respective host countries. Partners invited include the ASEAN SME Advisory Board, SMEWG, national chambers, SME associations in AMSs, ACCI, and ABAC. Other chambers—such as EuroCham and bilateral chambers between European countries and AMSs or between AMSs—are also welcome as partners and participants.
Planned activities include:
- bi-annual conferences in rotating AMSs
- annual events in alternating German cities
- annual economic surveys
- regional information platform
- regional business development support
- regional capacity-building programs
